Stranger sets HBO viewer record
Based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, the dramatic thriller Outsider is the highest-rated new series to air on HBO since Westworld, which premiered in 2016. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The 10-episode drama may have received less media attention compared to another new HBO series, Watchmen, however, in terms of viewer interest, the TV adaptation King's book, he was higher. Starring Ben Mendelssohn and Cynthia Erivo in its first nine episodes, Outsider attracted more than nine million viewers per episode on various platforms. The final episode aired on Sunday, March 8, 2020 of the year, boasts the largest audience – 1.37 million people who watched the episode live. This is 16 percent more than a week earlier – 1.18 million people. With re-views and streaming, Sunday's episode 10 reached 2.2 million viewers, the highest score for an episode of this show in a premiere night. In terms of total viewers per episode, "Outsider" overtook "The Guardians "(seven million people in the same time period) and the third season of the True Detective anthology (eight million people).
