Westworld ratings dropped (Topic)

The season 2 finale of HBO's Westworld ended with lower ratings than the first. According to Variety, citing Nielsen, the final episode of the second season on Sunday night, June 25, 2018, was watched by 1.6 million people, and the demo rating of the series was 0.6.

The numbers are comparable to the figures. the previous, ninth, episode, however, is almost 30 percent lower than the same last season in terms of total viewership and 40 percent lower than the demo rating of the first season finale. In December 2016, the final episode of the first season of the show attracted 2.2 million people, and its demo rating was 1.0. In addition, on average, episodes of the second season on the day of the premiere gathered 1.6 million TV viewers on the screens, while the similar indicators of the first season were 14 percent higher, and for the key audience – by twenty-three.

HBO says the lion's share of the ratings is due to delayed views on various platforms, and that the final figure will be about 10 million people for each episode of the second season. Even if such predictions are destined to come true, such ratings are not serious for a premium cable channel. In addition, HBO executives confirmed that Westworld season 1 averaged 13.2 million viewers per episode, reflecting the decline in interest in Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy Nolan's show.
