Michael Bay will continue his experiments with robots, but this time it is not about the next sequel to "Transformers", but about the screen version of Daniel Wilson's science fiction novel called "Robocalypse". This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Recall that initially the movie based on this work was going to be shot by Steven Spielberg, whose studio DreamWorks acquired the rights to movie adaptation back in 2009. There was even set a release date for the movie - April 25, 2014. Chris Hemsworth and Anne Hathaway were supposed to play the lead roles. However, in the future, the production of the movie was frozen for an indefinite period.

According to one version, the reason for the cancellation of movieing was the too large production budget which was required for the implementation of the script already ready at that time.

In the literary source, the action takes place in the near future, in which robots have shouldered all the concerns of mankind, right down to the waging of wars. But the seemingly ideal world will be destroyed when artificial intelligence realizes the complete uselessness of people.

When exactly Michael Bay will start working on the movie adaptation is not yet specified. Most likely, not earlier than 2019.
