The streaming service Netflix has acquired the rights to movie a script written by X-Men: Dark Phoenix creator Simon Kinberg. The Hollywood Reporter has information that the company had to pay a seven-figure sum.

It is noted that the cost turned out to be very high, given that the project has neither a director nor a potential star cast. The content of the future movie is still kept secret, its genre is also unknown, however, given Kinberg's track record, it can be assumed that it is about some kind of fantastic or detective plot.

Recall that Kinberg worked on the whole scripts a series of movie adaptations of Marvel comics dedicated to the X-Men. In 2019, he also decided to debut as a stage director, however, the experiment was unsuccessful. The movie "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" failed at the box office and turned out to be one of the most unprofitable Hollywood movie projects of the year.

We also note that recently Netflix has been actively buying scripts and movies already in production. To this end, the company re-entered the borrowing market and increased its debt burden by several billion dollars.
