In China, after the crisis associated with the outbreak of the coronavirus COVID-19 in Wuhan, cinemas have begun to reopen. Indie Wire reports. the first of them resumed work in the city of Urumqi, located in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the PRC. It has been closed since January 26, 2020.

The Golden Palm cinema's repertoire so far includes only locally produced movie projects, including several patriotic movies glorifying the ruling Communist Party, as well as animated movies for a young audience. The owners of the cinema are said to have coordinated the opening with local and health authorities.

All viewers are required to attend masked screenings, each of them will have their temperature measured before entering the hall.

Four to five more multiplexes are expected to open in Urumqi in the coming days. According to sources, the lack of new movies does not yet allow attracting the attention of the proper number of viewers, so while the halls will operate at a loss.

Recall that the Chinese leadership ordered the closure of all cinemas in the country in February 2020, when the spread of coronavirus has become rampant.
