Danila Kozlovsky asked not to consider his movie a response to Chernobyl

The director of the movie "Chernobyl. Abyss" Danila Kozlovsky asked his fans not to consider his picture as an "answer" to a popular Western TV series dedicated to the accident at a nuclear power plant, and spoke about the work on the project. Kozlovsokgo's statement was posted on his Instagram page.

"Do not rush to compare us with the recently released TV series on a similar topic and consider our movie a USA answer. The series" Chernobyl "(produced by HBO channel) was released in early May, Last year, on the fifth. Filming of our movie started on May 18, the same year. Exactly 13 days later. That is, if this was our answer, then the preparation, script writing, fundraising, approval of locations, coordination of movieing, search and approval of artists, historical props, tailoring of costumes, construction of scenery (including water, in Budapest) and much more, we would have only 13 days. I think that even the most inexperienced viewer in the sense of moviemaking understands that this is simply impossible. It takes at least two years to prepare such a movie, or even more. It took us several years. It just so happened that two large projects are coming out at once in different countries, on a similar topic. One came out last year, the second comes out a year later. That's all. It seems to me that this topic deserves different Films in different genres to be created about it, and then it would be strange to call them plagiarism, "he wrote.

Film" Chernobyl. The Abyss "will be released in October 2020.
