The French government actually put an end to the plans of the organizers of the International Cannes Festival to hold it in 2020. As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, despite the removal of some of the restrictions already from May 11, events of this kind will be prohibited until September.

The first stage of the plan to reanimate the country's economy will be put into effect, provided that the number of new COVID-19 cases will remain below 3,000 per day. While schools, some offices and shops will be allowed to return to work, cinemas, theaters and concert halls, as well as large shopping centers, bars and restaurants, will remain closed. Officials say that after the first phase, in early June, they will make a decision on whether to keep these businesses closed further or not.

France can also say goodbye to professional sports until September, which means that the 2019-20 football season has actually ended.

Recall that the Cannes Festival was supposed to take place in mid-May 2020, but the outbreak of the new coronavirus type did not allow it to be held within the previously specified period. It was expected to be available in late June or early July.
