Universal Film Studio will shoot a new version of the popular science fiction movie "The Tornado", released in 1996. According to Variety, Joseph Kosinski received an offer to lead the project as a director. Negotiations with him are still ongoing.

Frank Marshall will be producing the movie, and the studio is currently trying to find a scriptwriter. The plot details of the new latest version are still unknown, but the original movie was about a group of tornado hunters trying to penetrate the heart of a deadly storm to learn how to predict its occurrence. Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton starred.

Tornado was a global box-office hit, grossing $ 494 million worldwide, and special effects pioneering for its time. Directed by Jan de Bont, executive produced by Steven Spielberg. The timeline for work on the new version has not yet been announced.
