TP-Link Neffos X20 Smartphone Review

Image

Since 1996 TP-Link has been specializing in the development of computer and telecommunications equipment. Since 2009, the company's products have been officially supplied to USA. At first it was networking and switching equipment, and since 2011 - smartphones. Let's talk about one of these devices in more detail.

External data and characteristics

TP-Link Neffos X20 gadget is almost entirely made of plastic. It uses not the best quality glossy polymer. This can be immediately understood by the large number of prints that remain on the smartphone even after a short contact with it.

The strength characteristics of the hull are also mediocre. The slightest touch leaves scratches and marks on it.

There is a main camera unit in the upper left corner of the rear panel. It consists of two sensors and one more sensor. There is also information here that the system uses AI to improve the quality of shooting.

In the center, the fingerprint scanner and the manufacturer's logo are clearly visible.

At the bottom there is a Micro-USB port, speaker and microphone. On the right, the manufacturer's engineers placed a volume rocker and a power button, on the left - a SIM card slot. Here you can install two Nano-SIM cards and one microSD at the same time. This is the best option for versatility and is not common these days.

The 6.26-inch IPS display of the smartphone has wide bezels by today's standards. Its resolution is 1520 ? 720 pixels. All the hardware stuffing is controlled by the MediaTek Helio A22 chipset with 3 GB of RAM, the graphics processes are controlled by the PowerVR GE8300 chip. The volume of ROM is 32 GB, which is very small in 2019.

Communication and connections can actually be done using several protocols. Among them: WiFi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS.

The main camera of the device has sensors with a resolution of 13 and 5 megapixels, the front camera has 8 megapixels. It hides in a teardrop notch at the top of the panel.

The OS is Android 9 Pie and NFUI 9.0. The autonomy of the product is achieved through the use of a battery with a capacity of 4100 mAh.

Display and sound

The pixel density in the display is 269 ppi, which improves some of the details of the displayed content. The colors are natural, slightly muted. This is very good for a gadget with an average cost of 8,000 rubles. The brightness is also okay. Its parameters allow viewing the data on the screen even on a sunny day. There is also a blue filter to protect your eyes from unnecessary radiation.

The speaker in TP-Link Neffos X20 is of average quality. It is loud, but poorly conveys depth and bass. Music lovers can use advanced headphones to get better sound. There is a corresponding connector for this.

Cameras and their capabilities

A 5-megapixel smartphone lens is used to add depth to the resulting images. However, this is not enough to get good photos. Here they come out of average quality and below. Detailing suffers especially. Something cannot be improved, since there is no necessary functionality for this.

For the same reason, it is unrealistic to get high-quality macro photos.

Night shots are characterized by fading, noise and smudges.

The capabilities of the selfie camera are also not impressive. Photos taken with it have medium detail, overexposed backgrounds, and moderately natural colors.

The device has received several applications with which you can slightly improve the quality of the resulting images. Among them are advanced mode, panoramic shooting and monochrome photos. There are also color filters, time-lapse shooting and AI support.

Software & Performance

The TP-Link Neffos X20 interface has received several options and applications that cannot be considered standard.

For example, the program itself can determine the necessary moment to turn on the blue light filter. There is also a cloning module that allows you to duplicate applications such as Facebook, Twitter, Messenger, Instagram and Skype. Within the framework of this module, it is really possible to restrict the access of other users to a particular messenger or program. You can use a fingerprint scanner or a password for this.

One of the available navigation methods is gesture control. They are standard and intuitive.

The appearance of the interface can be customized according to your preferences.

What's disappointing is the poor performance of the device. It does not allow you to play your favorite games or watch video content normally. Due to lack of resources, there are regular lags and system slowdowns.

Security and Autonomy

You can use a fingerprint scanner or face recognition system to securely access your smartphone. Both functions do not differ in speed and accuracy. Sometimes it takes 3-4 seconds to unlock the device using a fingerprint.

Face recognition works tolerably well, but it also does not suffer from performance.

Developers should be commended for their high levels of autonomy. The gadget is capable of working away from an outlet for, for example, 11 hours when watching a video. If used normally, one charge will last two days.

A little bit spoils the impression of an archaic charger that does not support fast charging.
