Bloodborne

Bloodborne is a black pearl among Playstation 4 exclusives and a great Dark Souls replacement for those looking for more intense combat and less RPG emphasis.

Life is Strange

Sun-drenched classrooms, golden October leaves fluttering on trees, a university campus and teen squabbles - Life is Strange's first season has the wonderful ability to return to college time, so it's hard not to fall under its charm regardless of age. But even without paying attention to the nostalgic effect, the project from the Dontnod studio deserves attention. As a genre of interactive cinema with a not pretentious, but well-written storyline and excellent acting, the first season of Life is Strange deserves a high rating.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided can be scolded endlessly for its criminally short story campaign and "To be continued" ending in the style of Latin TV series. But even with these problems in mind, Mankind Divided is worth playing for at least two features. Firstly, for the sake of purebred, elevated to the absolute and surprising freedom of Immersive Sim gameplay. Secondly, for the sake of a trip to futuristic Prague, which attracts the eye with its luxurious design as much as it impresses with the elaboration and the number of secrets in literally every corner of European streets.

Disco Elysium

Together with Disco Elysium, aspiring developers from ZA / UM finally managed to create the first worthy answer in 20 years, Planescape: Torment. Like its famous progenitor, Disco Elysium is distinguished by a deliberate departure from the standard canons of role-playing games and intellectual fullness, which is why developers dissect all kinds of philosophies and social norms on hundreds of thousands of lines of text. Of course, without a huge dose of irony and humor, it was not without, which in the bag creates a completely unique journey that topped our top 10 best games of 2019.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

The final adventure of the famous adventurer Nathan Drake turned out exactly as the fans deserved it: spectacular, incredibly beautiful and sending Drake on a well-deserved vacation. However, we expected to see another cinematic thriller from the next Uncharted series, but something else surprises: how the game has changed from the inside. A more mundane story filled with dramatic moments and real emotions has replaced the banal plot line with the obligatory salvation of the world. Along with the presentation of the plot, the gameplay has also changed, becoming more varied, but not losing in the former dynamics.

Grand Theft Auto V

More than 6 years after the release of the game, it can be concluded that GTA V has become more than just another major Rockstar game. The last part of The Great Auto Theft at the moment is a real cultural phenomenon that does not leave the top sales. But it is important to note that all the honors for the game are fully deserved. Even after many years, GTA V remains one of the peak projects of the gaming industry: infinitely ambitious and worked out to the smallest detail, it can easily captivate for several hundred hours.

Civilization VI

Civilization VI, like all releases in the series, is a grand strategy on its own scale that allows you to go through all the stages of human civilization. In some modern games, developers sometimes gently break the fourth wall with a hammer and speak directly to the player. This is a good and always effective artistic technique. But what about a game that does not just knock on the fourth wall with a hammer, but blows it down with a sledgehammer, conducting a constant dialogue with the player and inviting him to pacing behind the scenes? Such a game exists and its name is The Stanley Parable. Depicting a day in the life of an office clerk, game designer Devi Ryden's project destroys the usual ways of telling stories in games, surprising from the first to the last second.

Resident Evil 2

If perfect games exist, then the Resident Evil 2 remake is definitely not one of them. At the same time, Capcom's Survival Horror turned out to be an almost flawless project within the genre, where there is nothing superfluous. Constant suspense, lack of ammunition, extremely tenacious zombies and the main star of the death show - Mr. X, one footfall of which strikes terror into the heart and constrains movement. After all, he is not Nemesis from Resident Evil 3, Mr. X does not stand on ceremony and appears at random moments, wanting to hammer the player with his bare fist like a hammer of nails.

Dead Space 2

When mentioning a remake of Rsident Evil 2, it would be a crime in our top 100 best games not to remember the Dead Space series, which died suddenly, but managed to win a loyal army of fans. Each part of the series boasts gameplay where the basis of survival is to dismember opponents, as well as impeccable sound and atmosphere of a dead, frightening space. However, among all the games of the trilogy, I would like to note Dead Space 2, which for all 10 hours of passage steps along the fine line of horror, which does not forget to defuse the situation with spectacular action scenes.

Shadow of The Colossus

Even 15 years after the release of Shadow of The Colossus, it rises like a colossus over numerous projects in the gaming industry trying to show battles with giant bosses. All sorts of selections of the best games are so often besieged by projects with the subtitle Mario that an uninitiated audience of Nintendo products may well become skeptical. Like, is it possible for 30 years to release dozens of games about the jumping mustachioed plumber, which at the same time manage to remain in the status of one of the best in the industry? Yes, how can Super Mario Odyssey is the best example of this. Before us is another portion of distilled, almost flawless and constantly changing gameplay. Additionally, we note that if you were looking for something to play with children on self-isolation, then Super Mario Odyssey will be more than ever useful.

Firewatch

Firewatch can be used as an example to other developers, how, on a modest budget, you can tell an intriguing story that can hit the heart. Starting as a melancholic story about the life of Henry, who traded a stressful time for the position of an observer of a fire tower, Firewatch becomes more and more tangled by the minute. As a result, a story that does not portend trouble turns into a real psychological thriller, and a piece of paradise in the American wilderness becomes full of paranoia and danger as a branch of Hell on Earth.

Creation by Croteam is the best way to get your brain to work. More than a hundred imaginative spatial puzzles are just the top layer of the game. Its real value lies in the philosophical plot, which examines the issues of religion and artificial intelligence through the prism of ancient myths.

Left 4 Dead 2

Left 4 Dead 2 is another reference product from Valve and further proof that virtually everything Gabe Newwell's company undertakes (excluding the failed Artifact) becomes a significant release for the industry. It was Left 4 Dead who introduced the co-op fashion to the masses and created a game where teamwork and helping your neighbor is not just a useful strategy, it is the only way to survive. Special attention should be paid to a unique AI system called AI Director, capable of placing useful items at its own command, releasing hordes of zombies or even changing the route of the map.

Braid

Braid is arguably the most important game in indie gaming history, created by one man and battling multimillion-dollar blockbusters on equal terms for the title of the best game of 2008. Gem designer Jonathan Blow used the concept of a 2D platformer as a basis for the project and the search for a princess who always ends up in another castle. The concept is simple only at first glance, because in reality the idea was to completely rework the established mechanics, adding time manipulation and plot, the unpredictable ending of which will be ingrained in memory for a long time.

Monster Hunter World

One of the best moments of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the opportunity to experience the witchcraft's craft, when you carefully prepare your ammunition, hunt down your enemy, and after a fierce battle, you win. In other words, this is a real fantasy safari, and if you want to feel it to the fullest, we strongly recommend that you play Monster Hunter World. Capcom did not do with half measures of CD Project and in their game they brought the concept of a fantasy safari to almost perfection. It is important to take into account that the outcome of each collision with a multi-ton giant is influenced not so much by the parameters of the weapon as by the cunning of the player.

Super Meat Boy

The Super Meat Boy platformer is one of those games that is accepted either to love or to hate, and this is not just a nice word for the sake of saying. With all the desire, it is difficult to maintain a neutral position, trying for the hundredth time to overcome a series of obstacles, cursing every time when only a few millimeters are left to the desired platform. Here, either you will experience catharsis, having passed the level, or you will abandon it halfway through the journey, sparing the nerve cells. Super Meat Boy is an incredibly difficult game, but always ready to reward your efforts with secret content or a new composition of a wonderful soundtrack.

Horizon Zero Dawn

Play: PS4

Horizon Zero Dawn is the first try of the Guerilla Games studio in the Action-RPG niche in the open world, and therefore she could not avoid a number of annoying roughnesses. The dead world, primitive additional tasks and ridiculous by the standards of the genre, the elaboration of role-playing elements is simply impossible not to notice. On the other hand, all the shortcomings go to the fore when you get involved in another impressive battle with mechs, admire the play of rays of light in the predawn haze and unravel the secrets of a non-trivial plot written by the writer Fallout New Vegas. If you were looking for something to play on self-isolation, but deliberately skipped Horizon Zero Dawn, then maybe now is the time to give Guerilla Games a chance?

Forza Horizon 4

Let's finish the second part of our selection of the 100 best games on the almost flawlessly executed arcade race Forza Horizon 4. Transferring from past games the typical rich car park, full of content open world and photorealistic graphics, the developers have once again improved the concept of the best race working like clockwork in the open world. Major changes include the ability to purchase homes and dynamically change seasons and weather that significantly alter the landscape.
