Rockstar has proven its "star status" in the gaming industry on several occasions, releasing top-notch titles that have been swept off store shelves by gamers like hot cakes. Rockstar's fame has grown to the point where Red Dead Redemption 2 is only months away from the release date, and we've only seen 3 short trailers and a bunch of screenshots. But at the same time we have no doubt that the new project "Rockstar" will be the main game release of this year.

We decided to collect all the known information about Red Dead redemption 2 and tell us what this time Rockstar is preparing to surprise us in their new game, which, for a minute, has been developing for 8 long years.

Back to the past

The presence of the number "2" in a subheading might be a little surprising. After all, judging by the available data, Red Dead redemption 2 will not continue the storyline of the original game, but will take players to 1899, 12 years before the events of Red Dead Redemption. And this step seems to be the most logical, since the first part already took place in the era of the decline of Westerns. The wild prairie was overgrown with power lines, and the adventurers were in a hurry to transfer from their faithful horses to the first cars.

Industrialization killed the romance of the wild west and the last bandits became bait for the federal troops, who decided to take control of the desert lands. And then, RDR ended on a sad note and almost all the playable characters went to their forefathers, leaving their bodies to feed the vultures. In such conditions, it would be difficult to create a sequel, which also corresponded to the genre of "Western".

Therefore, Rockstar was wise when they decided to tell the story of the young John Marston in the sequel, and along with the "Dutchman Gang", whose members we exterminated in the previous game.

Latest (anti) heroes of the wild west

Now it is worth dwelling in more detail on the plot of Red Dead Redemption 2. At the moment there are a minimum of details, but it is known for sure that the main character will be a certain Arthur Morgan. Unlike the same John Marston, who tried to forget his gangster past, Arthur is completely different. He is greedy, cruel, strives for monetary gain and is ready to do anything for his own interests. In general, a true bastard.

Thanks to his tenacity and cruel disposition, Arthur became one of the main members of the Dutch gang, also called the "Dutchman". The criminal group instills fear in the small settlements of provincial North America, but after an unsuccessful robbery, it barely takes its feet and hides in impenetrable forests from the ubiquitous police and federal troops. The Camping Camp becomes the new home for the gang and the main source of story and side quests.

Let's make a reservation right away that Rockstars have confirmed the presence of only one playable hero, which looks a little strange against the background of GTA V, where the three protagonists have proven themselves well both in the plot and in the gameplay plan. Therefore, we cannot completely exclude the possibility that in some story missions we will be able to control other heroes of Dutch's gang, perhaps even John Marston himself.

The Hateful Seven

The main innovation of Red Dead Redemption 2 will be the above-mentioned camp, where 7 members of the Dutchman's gang are located. They will not be silent NPCs and each of them has a role to play in the plot, which, by the way, will be non-linear. Of course, within moderate limits. Gang mates are always ready to turn to Arthur with several requests and if you ignore them, then it is quite possible to spoil relations with comrades.

They are not going to sit in the camp forever and are ready to offer a helping hand and a faithful Colt to complete the quest. Here you can draw an analogy with robberies from GTA V, in Red Dead Redemption 2 you can also choose partners with whom you will storm stagecoaches, rob banks and do other things familiar to the wild west.

To make Arthur Morgan a more lively character that the player can associate with, Rockstar introduced a dialogue system. Yes, as in real RPGs, you will be able to choose the answer options, which will affect your relationship with the party members, and also allow you to independently determine the way to complete the task. Dialogues can also be conducted with many minor NPCs, who in RDR 2 lead a busy life and have their own daily routine.

If you suddenly get bored of new adventures, then there is no need to independently explore the world of the game Red Dead Redemption 2 to find new problems on your fifth point. It is enough just to return to the camp and your comrades will happily report on what happened in your absence and drop a couple of requests. But do not be afraid that the chores with the camp will be mandatory, you are free to ignore any requests. But we won't be surprised if, in this case, Arthur meets the final of the game somewhere in a ditch, and even with a knife in his back, carefully left by one of Dutch's thugs.

An exemplary open world

Rockstar have established themselves as masters of open-world projects, in which you can always find something to your liking. In the new game, the developers want to jump over their heads and surpass GTA V. For starters, it's worth saying that the total area of the game world will be the largest among all other Rockstar projects. Just a few frames from the trailers of Red Dead Redemption 2 are enough to anticipate the adventures of the new Rockstar Western.

And there will be something to do. For example, you can again go in search of notorious thugs and bring their carcasses to the feds for a handful of jingling coins. Random events and meetings with strangers, which diversify the gameplay and will not let the player get bored even in the wildest expanses of Louisiana, will not go anywhere. As a last resort, there will be DLCs with new quests, just keep in mind that some of them will be exclusive for PS4 versions of Red Dead Redemption 2 for some time.

Special attention in the game is paid to hunting. But without problems, it will not work to exterminate the representatives of the North American fauna. Many animals are too shy, and some, like bears, are damn dangerous. We'll have to hunt down the game on the trail, sneak silently and shoot at weak points from the bow. Of course, you can turn the carcass into a sieve by shooting the poor animal with a Colt, but it is worth considering that the more spoiled the animal's skin, the less money will be given for it.

But animals in the game can be not only valuable loot, but also loyal companions. In the early previews of Red Dead Redemption 2, it was reported that the horse would be more than just a vehicle. “Roach” can and should be trained, looked after and bought new clothes. But it is worth considering that after death the horse will not magically resurrect and you will have to look for a new four-legged comrade.

The horse will also be ready to play the role of a portable chest in which we can put equipment. A separate mechanic is the rotting of animal carcasses, which lose their presentation if they are not delivered to the city on time. Here, again, a horse will help. By the way, according to a recent leak, the vehicles will not be limited to one horse.

It will be possible to ride trolleys and horse-drawn carts. In addition, there were other interesting details in the leak, for example, an improved Dead Eye system, which allows you to see hiding animals, as well as a mention of the battle royale mode in multiplayer.

According to reports, Red Dead Redemption 2 looks almost like a perfect game: big, expensive, interesting and with tremendous attention to detail, for example, the developers mentioned the beard growing in real time. The game is already predicting multi-million sales, and limited editions were sold out in a matter of hours on pre-orders of Red Dead Redemption 2. Well, we want to believe that Rockstar will not let us down once again and on October 26, 2018 will release a new, first-class gaming drug.

We also recall that there was a leak recently, where the Rockstar programmer confirmed the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC. And we have no doubt that this information is true. Unless pitch players will have to wait a little longer for the game than their console counterparts.
