Wonder Woman Writer to Adapt The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Streaming service Hulu, producer Carlton Cuse and screenwriter Jason Fucks are working on a television adaptation of Douglas Adams' acclaimed Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. According to Deadline insiders, the show is being produced by ABC Signature, an ABC Studios company that produces content for cable channels and streaming services. Adams originally created Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy as a radio drama for the BBC in late 1970 -x, and later turned it into a cycle of five novels, which have been translated into more than 30 languages. At the center of the humorous story is the unfortunate Englishman Arthur Dent, who, after the destruction of the Earth by the alien race of the Vogons, becomes an intergalactic traveler. Fukes ("Wonder Woman" ) will write the script for the show and share executive producer duties with Cuse ("Jack Ryan"). Disney Studios, which owns the majority stake in Hulu, shot the feature movie of the same name in 2005, starring Martin Freeman, Mos Def, Zooey Deschanel, Sam Rockwell, Bill Nighy, John Malkovich, Alan Rickman and other actors.
