Windows 10 will take up more system disk space
Microsoft developers have raised the requirements for user devices: the upcoming May update of Windows 10 will require more gigabytes on the system disk. The "plump" tenth Windows now needs 32 GB for comfortable placement, which is almost double the previous system installation parameters. Early versions of the system cost 16 GB and 20 GB when using 32- and 64-bit assemblies. The technical innovation associated with increasing the space for system files, Microsoft explains by concern for users, or rather protecting the device from unexpected failures during the installation of the next update. In the next update of the Tens, a new tool will appear, called "reserved storage", which required more space for placement. This tool, for which the new Windows 10 requires an additional 7 GB of disk space, is designed to protect the system from errors at the time of installing updates. The current October OS build, if there are not enough free gigabytes, stops downloading fresh updates and issues a system error.  The backup storage was created for temporary placement of update files - archives and their unpacked contents. After they are introduced into the general system, the files will remain on the disk for some time. The OS will gradually begin removing them as new packages are downloaded. In this case, the installed amount of 7 GB of backup storage can be increased by default. Microsoft does not limit itself to this minimum, and in case of insufficient space, Windows 10 will independently, without the user's permission, allocate additional space for the components of the next update. Its size will depend on the size of the patch being installed. Owners of outdated devices with a small amount of internal memory up to 64 GB, Microsoft's innovation may bring additional difficulties. After the May update, Windows 10 will take up a significant part of the built-in storage, and the availability of additional utilities can become an obstacle to unpacking a fresh package. A number of industry publications suggest that the upcoming Windows 10 update will be a motivating factor for manufacturers of budget laptops and tablets to start releasing their products with larger internal memory. Thus, an increase in the minimum requirements for disk size may lead to the emergence of devices in the low-cost segment with increased storage capacity.
