Netflix shut down The Punisher and Jessica Jones
Netflix has canceled further production of Jessica Jones and The Punisher. The Hollywood Reporter reports this with reference to the official press release.
"The Punisher" is not returning with a third season on Netflix. Showrunner Steve Lightfoot, a terrific team and exceptional cast including star John Bernthal have created an impressive movie adaptation for fans of these comics that we have proudly shown over the years. In addition, together with our partners at Marvel, we decided that the upcoming third season will also be the final for Jessica Jones. We thank showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, star Kristen Ritter and the entire cast for three incredible seasons of this groundbreaking show, which has received many prestigious awards. We thank Marvel for five years of our fruitful partnership and thank the passionate fans who have followed the series from the beginning, "Netflix said in a statement. The further fate of these projects is still unknown. It is possible that they, like other closed series based on comics, will become part of the content of Walt Disney's own streaming service in the future.
