The Alchemist Continues to the Big Screen
The world of cinema intends to make another attempt to give on-screen life to the heroes of the famous novel by Paulo Coelho " Alchemist ".Over the years, the Brazilian writer refused to agree to the adaptation of his bestselling book, but in 2003 the management of the studio Warner Bros. managed to convince him. Soon, Coelho was forced to make an attempt to regain the rights to the film, because he was not satisfied that the Hollywood major intends to add a large-scale battle with the participation of ten thousand warriors to the plot. Five years later, the project came under the wing of the famous producer Harvey Weinstein, who was going to give the director's chair and the role of the old man Melchizedek to Laurence Fishburne. Over the years, several versions of the script were written, but the tape did not manage to go into production. According to The Tracking Board , PalmStar Media has become the new owner of the rights to the film adaptation of The Alchemist . The bosses of the Los Angeles studio had to pay The Weinstein Company $ 6.5 million , but under the terms of the deal, they got all the script work at their disposal. The management of PalmStar Media intends to leave Fishburne at the helm of the project, but the fate of actors Javier Bardem and Idris Elba, who negotiated with Weinstein , remains in suspended state.
