Image According to Variety, Morgan Freeman will play Colin Powell, an American politician, General of the US Army, and the first African Secretary of State George W. Bush. Powell's new biopic will focus on Powell's 2003 report to the UN, when the secretary tried to persuade United Nations members to overthrow Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, based on intelligence reports of Iraqi nuclear weapons development. This event almost deprived him of his high position.

The director's chair for the project went to Reginald Hadlin (Marshall), the script is written by Ed Whitworth, and the film will be produced by Addison Mehr and Priya Amritraj. In 2009, Freeman already starred in the historical biopic "Unconquered" as South African President Nelson Mandela, for which he was nominated for an Oscar.
