According to Deadline, the popular Hollywood actor will play the role of Admiral Edwin Layton. It was previously announced that the movie will also star Luke Evans. who will play the distinguished commander Wade McCluskey in the battle, and Woody Harrelson will play one of the main roles - Admiral Chester Nimitz. Filming for "Battle of Midway" will be provided by Lionsgate. The production budget of the project is estimated at $ 100 million, but this figure is not final. The fact that Roland Emmerich intends to make a movie about this extremely important episode of World War II was announced during the 2017 International Cannes Film Festival.
