The search for a new director for the long-suffering feature-length project about the superhero The Flash seems to have reached the home stretch. According to the information portal The Hollywood Reporter , Warner Bros. has reduced the list of applicants to three people. Matthew Vaughn , Robert Zemeckis and Sam Raimi will fight for the director's chair. The current leader of the race appears to be Robert Zemeckis , Oscar winner and director of films such as Forrest Gump, Outcast and Back to the Future. ... He is currently focusing on an as-yet-untitled project starring Steve Carell, set to begin filming in the fall. This could have prevented the maestro from participating in The Flash , but according to some sources, Warner Bros. is ready to wait for the window in Zemeckis to free up ... As for the other two potential candidates, Matthew Vaughn has extensive experience in comic book adaptations.
