Harry Potter series creator J.K. Rowling apologized to fans of her work for the murder of the popular character - house elf Dobby. A related post was posted on Rowling's official Twitter page.

"Today is another anniversary. This year I apologize for killing someone who did not die during the Battle of Hogwarts, but who laid down his life to save the people who will win it. I mean, of course, Dobby, the house elf, "she wrote.

Recall that Dobby was a house elf of the Malfoy family. Freed by Harry Potter and then killed while protecting him from Bellatrix Lestrange's spell. It is worth noting that Rowling has previously apologized for the deaths of other characters in her books, in particular, Severus Snape and Professor Lupine.

Whether Dobby will ever appear on the big screens is still unknown. November 2018 will see the premiere of Fantastic Beasts 2: The Crimes of Grindelwald, one of the planned prequels of the Potter. It is possible that future adaptations will shed light on Dobby's origins and the history of his service to the Malfoy clan.
