Paul Verhoeven returns to television
The director of RoboCop and Basic Instinct is filming the novel Dear Friend by French writer Guy de Maupassant. Paul Verhoeven will be the showrunner and director of all eight episodes of the series, according to the project's producer Said Ben Said.The action of the novel, which tells the story of an adventurer who dreams of making a brilliant career only in his appearance, will be transferred from 19th century Paris to our days. The screenwriter will be Gerard Suteman, who previously worked with Paul Verhoeven on The Black Book and Turkish Delights. Filming of the classics in a new interpretation will begin in the summer of 2021. "Dear Friend" is a frequent guest on TV screens.
