Universal will open a school of wizardry
Universal Studios is preparing a response to competitors from Warner Bros. and their film franchises based on the works of J.K. Rowling. The Hollywood company has bought out the rights to adapt Naomi Novik's book series Scholomance.The film adaptation of the first part of the literary cycle - "A Deadly Education" is going to work. The book is set in a school of magic with rules so strict that even the best students of Hogwarts would hardly have held out. The laws of learning are as simple as possible: either you go through all the death courses and get a certificate, or you die. In the center of the plot is the young sorceress El Higgins, who will have to resort to dark sorcery to survive in the gloomy walls of the educational institution.  Universal is already familiar with the world of magic: for five years, its TV department has been involved in the creation of the popular TV series The Magicians.
