A scandal erupted in Hollywood this fall when director Martin Scorsese criticized Marvel Comics. Since then, every press conference dedicated to the gangster saga "The Irishman" began with questions about the master's attitude to the superhero genre and blockbusters in general. Today it became known that the confrontation between Scorsese and Marvel has reached a new level: the Oscar-winning director and Kevin Feige's company clashed in the battle for the main film award in the world. The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has begun preparations for the 92nd Academy Awards. Advances in computer technology have resulted in the organization receiving dozens of entries for the Best Visual Effects category. Today, the Academy announced the twenty paintings that passed the pre-selection sieve. Among the lucky ones were the already mentioned "Irishman" Scorsese and three Marvel blockbusters at once - "Avengers: Endgame", "Captain Marvel" and "Spider-Man: Far From Home". Now a special Oscar committee comes into play, whose members will look through excerpts from all twenty films and select the best works. The list of finalists in this and other categories will be announced on January 13th. As a reminder, the 92nd Oscar ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on February 9. The shortlist of nominees for the Oscar - 2020 for the best special effects includes: "1917" "Ford vs. Ferrari" "Aladdin" Alita: Battle Angel "Aeronauts" Gemini "Dumbo" "Jumanji: The Next Level" Star Wars: Skywalker.
