Mikhail Mikhailovich was born in 1936 in Moscow. Love for acting was in his blood: Kokshenov's mother wanted to become an actress, but she never realized her dream. Mikhail Mikhailovich even worked as an engineer for a while, but in the end, the passion for acting prevailed. Kokshenov was admitted to the Shchukin Theater School, from which he graduated in 1963. Then he began working at the Academic Theater. Vladimir Mayakovsky, where he stayed for three years. He traveled all over the country with the troupe of the theater, but he had to leave his work in order to shoot in the drama Zhenya, Zhenechka and Katyusha, where Kokshenov got his first prominent role.

Mikhail Mikhailovich began acting in films while still a student. In the first films, his name was not even listed in the credits. A full-fledged debut for the artist was the role in the film "Chairman". Subsequently, Kokshenov more and more often came across comedic images. The actor liked to cooperate with director Leonid Gaidai: he starred in the comedies "It Can't Be!", "Incognito from St. Petersburg", "The Weather Is Good on Deribasovskaya, or it is raining again on Brighton Beach", "Sportloto-82". Also in the filmography of Kokshenov you can find the films "Garage", "The most charming and attractive" and many others, which have become classics of USA cinema.
