The Saturn Award went to Thanos and Iron Man

Image The next season of distribution of film and television awards has started in the USA. The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films was the first of the major Hollywood organizations. The 45th Saturn Awards ceremony took place this morning at the famous Los Angeles club "Avalon". The guests of the event were entertained by actress Aisha Tyler.

The history of "Saturn" dates back to 1973. Today it is hard to believe that in those days there were only two nominations - "Best Sci-Fi Film" and "Best Horror". Over the years, Saturn has become one of the most prestigious awards in film and television, and the number of its categories has exceeded four dozen.

Films and TV series that were released from March 1, 2018 to July 7, 2019, made their way to the lists of nominees for Saturn 2019. The leaders of the Academy have proven that they are keeping pace with the times: the rapid growth in popularity of streaming platforms has led to the emergence of a number of new nominations.

The status of the main favorite of the ceremony in the categories for film projects was confirmed by the blockbuster "Avengers: Endgame", which won six gold statuettes. Another benefit of the Marvelites was the presentation of honorary awards from the Academy. This year, a place in the Saturn Museum of Glory was won by MCU curator Kevin Feige, studio television head Jeff Lobe and Iron Man director Jon Favreau. Game of Thrones has earned the most awards among terrestrial and cable TV series, and in the nominations for projects of online services a tense struggle unfolded between the fantastic action game Star Trek: Discovery and the mystical thriller Mysterious Events.
