Avatar won the Saturn Awards
The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films has announced the winners of the Saturn Awards. The overall winner is James Cameron's Avatar, winner of ten awards, including Best Picture of the Year, Best Actor of the Year (Sam Worthington) and Best Actress of the Year (Zoe Saldana). James Cameron himself was awarded the trophy as Best Writer and Director. Among the series, Lost was recognized as the best, and actor Josh Holloway became a laureate of the Saturn Awards; nominated for Best Television Actor. In honor of the 30th anniversary of the movie Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back director Irwin Kershner received an award for his contribution to the development of science fiction cinema.
