Almost a quarter of a century has passed since director Paul W.S. Anderson presented his vision of the cult game Mortal Kombat. The film "Mortal Kombat" turned out to be not very successful: the main complaints of critics were addressed to a stupid, full of cliches script and unconvincing acting. About "Mortal Kombat 2: Annihilation" and not worth remembering - its film community crushed to smithereens. Studio New Line is ready to correct its own mistakes, and for a start, the major decided to responsibly approach the selection of actors for the new Mortal Kombat.The first person who agreed to participate in the famous fighting tournament was the actor and martial artist Joe Taslim. He has already demonstrated his fighting qualities in "Raid", the sixth "Fast and the Furious" and the TV series "Warrior", and now Taslim will throw ice balls at his opponents in the image of Sub-Zero - one of the original characters of the Mortal Kombat universe, whose main ability is the control of the cold . Mortal Kombat will be directed by Simon McQuyd, who has behind him shooting commercials but has no experience in the world of big cinema. The new adaptation was written by Greg Russo, another newcomer to cinematography, and produced by James Wang.  Filming of the action should begin this year, so it should be released in 2021.
