Coronavirus Cinema

Image While some actors get bored with self-isolation and kill time in online quarantine parties, others continue to work. Hollywood starlet Zendaya (Spider-Man dilogy) and John David Washington, star of the upcoming action thriller Argument, were not afraid of the coronavirus and took part in the filming of Sam Levinson's secret film project.

We are not talking about the screenlife format popular at the height of the pandemic: the film "Malcolm & Marie" was shot with the help of professional equipment and a full-fledged film crew. In mid-March, Zendaya approached Levinson with the idea of making a film about the pandemic. It took a week for the director to draft a rough script and apply for filming with leading American film guilds.

Trade unions were allowed to assemble a film crew, but put forward several safety requirements. Before starting work, the project participants went through a 14-day quarantine. Filming started on June 17th. In the morning and evening, the film crew took temperature tests, and the props and decorations were treated with antiseptics. No more than 12 people could be present at the same time.

Thanks to heightened security measures, Malcolm and Marie became one of the few films filmed in the midst of the pandemic. Levinson's project is currently entering the post-production stage.
