Max von Sydow died
Tragic news came from the French capital. The legendary Swedish actor Max von Sydow has died in Paris at 91 years old.Max was born on April 10, 1929 in the family of a teacher and professor of ethnology. The native of Lund became interested in the stage during his school years. After serving in the army, he moved to Stockholm and entered an acting studio at the Royal Drama Theater. The guy was so talented that he was called to the cinema already in his second year: von Sydow made his screen debut in 1949 in the film "Only Mother". Six years later, Max moved to Malmo, where he met the rising star of European cinema - screenwriter and director Ingmar Bergman. The duo began their collaboration on the theater stage. After several successful performances, Bergman invited his friend to join the philosophical parable "The Seventh Seal", which has become a classic of world cinema. Subsequently, Ingmar and Max presented ten more films together.  In the mid-60s, Max tried his hand at Hollywood. The actor went on to trump playing Jesus Christ in The Greatest Story Ever Told. Since then, he has collaborated with both European and American studios. Among his most high-profile film and television projects - the horror "The Exorcist", the thriller "Three Days of the Condor", the space opera "Flash Gordon", the action "Conan the Barbarian", the spy thriller "Never Say Never", the fantastic epic "Dune" , the psychological drama "Isle of the Damned", the Star Wars franchise, the historical drama "The Tudors" and the fantasy "Game of Thrones".  On account of Max von Sydow awards at the Cannes and Venice festivals, the European Film Academy prize and two Oscar nominations. The first time he claimed a gold statuette in 1989 for the role of the Swedish migrant Lasse Karlsson in the film adaptation of Pelle the Conqueror, and the second - in 2012 for the image of Thomas Schell Sr. from the drama Eerily Loud and Extremely Close.
