The Little Mermaid Found a Lover
Disney studio began to collect the cast for the new "Little Mermaid" in the summer, but one of the main roles in the fairytale musical remained vacant. The search for a suitable actor for the role of Prince Eric, the beloved of the titular heroine, took a little time, but the filmmakers nevertheless made their choice: the representative of homo sapiens who captivated the heart of Ariel will be played by Briton John Hauer-King.Initially, Disney bosses saw the musician Harry Styles in the image of Prince Eric. He even negotiated with the studio, but eventually decided to focus on his singing career. After Styles, the producers watched a lot of actors, and in September chose two candidates - Hauer-King and "Krypton" star Cameron Kaffe. They went through a series of additional auditions, and in the end the role went to Hauer-King. For him, "The Little Mermaid" can be a real breakthrough in his career, because so far the Briton's track record includes only a couple of notable projects - the drama "The Way Home" and the mini-series "Little Women". The company on the set of "The Little Mermaid" gathered colorful. Ariel played by Holly Bailey and Prince Eric will be surrounded by such eminent actors as Javier Bardem and Melissa McCarthy, and Jacob Tremblay, Aquafina and David Diggs will present their voices to Ariel's friends. Rob Marshall (Mary Poppins Returns) has been appointed to direct this musical performance.  The Little Mermaid has no official premiere date yet, but the musical is due to start filming early next year.
