Timur Bekmambetov will produce the horror film about the resurrected dead
The director of the "Gogol" trilogy, Yegor Baranov, together with producer and film maker Timur Bekmambetov, are preparing the horror film "Resurrected". The film will be shot in the traditional screenlife style for Bekmambetov, when events are shown on a computer monitor. The production will be carried out by the BAZELEVS company.The film tells the story of the Catholic minister Stanley, who lost his son in a terrible car accident. The action takes place in the future, when Vatican scientists have found a way to resurrect dead people, and Stanley's son should be the first to be brought back to life. However, the experiment gets out of control, and the main character is forced to fight evil alone, along the way revealing many secrets and conspiracies among the ministers of the church. According to Baranov, he initially conceived this story in the form of a series, but after a conversation with Bekmambetov, it was decided to shoot a full-length film. An international team will work on the project, this will be the first such experience for the director, as well as working in the screenlife format.  The filming process has already begun, the producer will be Bekmambetov himself, the end date of filming is unknown. In the same format, BAZELEVS released in 2014 Levan Gabriadze's horror film Remove from Friends, as well as the thrillers Search (2018) and Profile, for which Bekmambetov received the Audience Award at last year's Berlin Film Festival.
