The Patriot Screenwriter Explains the Nigerian Chess Genius

Image The screenwriter for the film Miracle and the TV series Patriot Steve Konrad will write the screenplay about the eight-year-old chess prodigy from Nigeria. The biopic will be produced by Paramount Studio, as well as producers Trevor Noah and George Tillman Jr.

The drama will tell the story of the Christian Nigerian family Adewumi, who fled their country due to fear of terrorists of the radical Islamist organization Boko Haram. Living in one of New York's homeless shelters, young Tanitoluwa Adevumi became interested in chess and announced to his parents in 2017 that he dreamed of becoming a grandmaster. Two years later, he won the New York State Championship, after which his coach opened an account for the Adewumi family, and admired benefactors donated more than $ 180,000 to the young chess player.

Konrad has also written screenplays for The Pursuit of Happyness and The Incredible Life of Walter Mitty. Trevor Noah is currently filming his own memoir Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood, starring Lupita Nyong'o.
