CBS found their Clarissa Starling

Image CBS continues to work actively on the drama series Clarissa, a storyline sequel to the classic thriller The Silence of the Lambs. The authors of the project decided on the main star of the show: it became known that the leading role will be played by Rebecca Breeds (Pretty Little Liars).

The series will show the life of FBI agent Clarice Starling a year after the events of the feature film. Having gained experience in the Hannibal Lecter case, the heroine pursues new serial killers and sex maniacs, simultaneously participating in political intrigues. Although the relationship between the famous cannibal and the FBI agent was a highlight of the film, Lecter is not expected to appear on the series.

Breeds will become the third actress to play Clarice Starling, who first appeared in the 1988 novel The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris. In 1991, the FBI agent was played by Jodie Foster, and Anthony Hopkins became her partner on the set. For this work, Foster won an Oscar for Best Actress. Then in 2001, the role passed to Julianne Moore in the film "Hannibal", a prequel to the original tape. Breeds, who picks up the baton, will have to preserve the characteristics of Clarissa, who is described as a brave and vulnerable girl with an inner light that attracts monsters and madmen.

Clarissa's character never appeared in Brian Fuller's Hannibal, starring Mads Mikkelsen, but this is not due to the show's reluctance to introduce the heroine into the plot. Although the series was canceled by NBC after its third season, Fuller continued to say that he hoped to see Clarissa in future episodes. Naturally, the Hannibal team had to get the copyright for the character to begin with, and while that never happened, Fuller argued that Ellen Page would be the ideal Clarissa.

Breeds performed her first TV role in the Australian series The Big Wave. In 2013, the actress moved to Hollywood and starred in the sitcom We Are Men, and later appeared in the episodes of Pretty Little Liars and The Originals.
