Sony remembered the Karate Kid?

Image In 2010, the Sony studio released an extremely successful remake: the film "The Karate Kid" received worthy reviews in the press and repeatedly paid off the $ 40 million budget. A sequel seemed inevitable, but the film ended up in a protracted production hell. It looks like Sony's management doesn't want to lose the cash cow and is trying to get the sequel off the ground.

Rumor has it that the studio is reworking the script to remove Jaden Smith's Dre Parker from the plot. Despite the efforts of the star father, the young man's acting career did not go uphill. Suffice it to say that in the nine years since the release of The Karate Kid, Smith Jr. has starred in just three feature films.

Luckily for the Sony bosses, they have an actor at their disposal whose stardom is unquestionable. Instead of developing a storyline involving Jaden's character, the studio wants to find a new apprentice for Jackie Chan's character.

The rewriting of the script looks like the right move, since 21-year-old Smith has lost the main trump cards of children - spontaneity, naivety and charm. Nevertheless, Sony representatives are in no hurry to confirm the information about the withdrawal of Dre Parker from the plot of "Karate Kid 2".
