Movies and TV shows about vampires are traditionally Western history, despite the timid attempts of USA filmmakers to join it. It is somehow strange to see daring and attractive bloodsuckers in the paternal non-sexual realities. And if it is not in Moscow or St. Petersburg, then even more so. Here it remains either to forget about the vampire theme altogether, or to come up with an organic type for USA. Director Anton Maslov (PI Pirogov, Fitness) and the Start channel definitely liked the second option better, and therefore they began filming a series about bloodsuckers living in the USA province. The creators of the "Vampires of the Middle Lane" project have additionally increased the stakes by making the central character as old as possible - a character named grandfather Slava is in charge of the vampires. Mikhail Efremov will play the role of an experienced fanged man.The series is set in Smolensk, where vampires have long lived in the neighborhood of people. They are used to not attracting attention: they adhere to the family model of existence and abide by the laws. Naturally, blood is not sucked in public and people are not killed. The vampire union is headed by the oldest vampire - grandfather Slava or Svyatoslav Vernidubovich (Efremov), and the observance of worldly vampire laws is controlled by the "keepers" headed by the formidable Irina Vitalievna (Tatyana Dogileva). Once outside the city, the bodies of bloodless people are found, and from that moment the peaceful existence of the vampire cell is threatened ...  According to the director, everything is always different in USA.“We live differently, love and hate. And even vampires in our country are different. The whole thrill of our story is that we have vampires - positive guys. They are wise, kind, they want to love. And for me, the basis is not only a vampire theme, but a big powerful story about an amazing family that finds itself in a difficult situation. This story will remind all of us that we need to remain human no matter what. The further we are from each other, the darker the world around us ", - Maslov says. In 2018, the project was presented at the Pilot serial show. The show received high marks from critics, and they even called "Vampires of the Middle Band" one of the most anticipated and distinctive USA TV series. It is curious that Yuri Stoyanov played in the pilot of the series grandfather Slava. Apparently, the paths of the actor and the project team went their separate ways. Efremov and Dogileva will be accompanied by Dmitry Lysenkov, Olga Medynich, Artem Tkachenko, Ekaterina Kuznetsova, Gleb Kalyuzhny and Alexander Ustyugov.
