USAn Box Office stuck in Tarantino Hollywood
The previous weekend ended very successfully for USA distributors, but last weekend set a new record in August in gross - viewers brought 952.9 million rubles to the box office, and more than half of this amount was provided by Quentin Tarantino's film, which started beyond praise.The top five for the weekend (8-11 August) looks like this: 1. "Once Upon a Time in ... Hollywood"  Week at the box office: 1 Added: 504.9 million rubles. Total fees: 504.9 million rubles. Sank / Rise: - (-) Good reviews, star cast and the arrival of Quentin Tarantino to Moscow did their job: the film "Once Upon a Time in ... Hollywood" demonstrated an excellent result at the start. In just a few days, the tape collected an amount in the USA box office that Tarantino's previous works had only dreamed of: Inglourious Basterds earned 191.4 million rubles during their stay in cinemas, Django Unchained - 484.1 million rubles, and "The Hateful Eight" - 426.4 million rubles. 2. "Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw"  Week at the box office: 2 Added: 183.4 million rubles. Total fees: RUB 919.6 million. Sank / Rise: -1 (-66.4%) The spin-off started last weekend not as briskly as its brothers in the main film series, but by the second week "Hobbs and Shaw" suffered decent damage - the seventh and eighth parts sagged much less sharply, however, their competitors were weaker. Now David Leitch's blockbuster is on its way to the billion dollar mark, which it will overcome by next weekend. 3. "The Lion King"  Week at the box office: 4 Added: 107.6 million rubles. Total fees: 2.75 billion rubles. Sank / Rise: -1 (-57.5%) The Lion King also lost more than half of the viewers, which significantly reduces his chances of overcoming the three-billion mark. The film is still in fourth place in the list of the highest grossing releases in the entire history of USA distribution, and 240 million rubles remain until the last Avengers. 4. "Dora and the Lost City"  Week at the box office: 1 Added: 60 million rubles. Total fees: 60 million rubles. Sank / Rise: - (-) The film by James Bobin started worse than expected, and some analysts attribute this to the fact that in USA the interactive children's series, which forms the basis of the film, is known as Dasha the Traveler. If we compare "Dora and the Lost City" with brothers in the genre, then the tape has mastered more "Born to Be King" (44.8 million rubles), but less than "Horror" (86.2 million rubles). 5. "Scary stories to tell in the dark"  Week at the box office: 1 Added: 45.9 million rubles. Total fees: RUB 45.9 million. Sank / Rise: - (-) In the USA, the horror film Andre Ovredal became the vice-leader of the rental, but we got only the fifth line of the financial rating.
