Taika Waititi will play football
Last month, Marvel Studios held an epic presentation of Phase 4 of their MCU. One of the main surprises of "Comic-Con 2019" was the announcement of the film "Thor: Love and Thunder", on which the director of "Ragnarok" Taika Waititi will return. The New Zealand director will direct a sports drama for Fox Searchlight before diving back into the world of superheroes.Due to the appointment to the post of helmsman of "Thor 4" Waititi had to postpone work on the long-suffering film adaptation of the manga "Akira". Once the director found time for Fox Searchlight, it is obvious that it will be much less modest in scale and budget than the post-apocalyptic blockbuster Warner Bros. Waititi's project will be based on the plot of the documentary film Next Goal Wins. The sports tape of Mike Brett and Steve Jameson won the British Independent Film Award and got into our traditional New Year's rating of interesting, but under-promoted films. A 2014 documentary told about Dutch coach Thomas Rongen, under whose leadership the football team of tiny American Samoa went from the bottom of the FIFA rankings.  It is reported that Waititi personally wrote the script for the film. The project's production team will include Garrett Bash (Real Ghouls) and Motion Capture Technology Master Andy Serkis. Filming will begin this fall. Taika already has experience working with Fox Searchlight: the director and the studio are currently preparing the satirical film "Jojo Rabbit" for release.
