Lakeith Stanfield will open a Nigerian restaurant

Image Lakeith Stanfield (Sorry to Bother you) has reserved the lead role in A24's new project, Notes From a Young Black Chef. The plot of the film will be based on the memoirs of Kwame Onwuachi, a participant in the Chef show, adapted for the big screen by Randy McKinnon. The director of the project has not yet been selected. Stanfield will also co-produce the upcoming film.

African Kwame Onwuachi grew up in the Bronx, but at the age of ten he was sent to his grandfather in Nigeria due to the turbulent situation in the area. He then returned, graduated from high school and moved to Louisiana, where he took a job as a cook on the Deepwater Horizon oil platform. In 2010, he again went to New York, where he began to systematically build his career, and by 2015 he became a participant in the 13th season of the popular American TV show "The Chef".

The next year he opened his own restaurant, but after a couple of years he was forced to close it. At the end of 2017, a new establishment was opened at the InterContinental Kwame hotel located near the White House, this time more successful. His restaurant, Kith and Kin, is famous for its Afro-Caribbean cuisine, with a touch of traditional Louisiana, Jamaica and Nigeria. Kith and Kin has received positive reviews from the Washington Post and the famous Michelin travel guide. In his memoirs, the chef described his childhood in Nigeria and the Bronx, as well as the story of the launch of the first restaurant.
