Lara Croft is ready for new exploits
Despite the fact that the latest "Lara Croft" cannot boast of any outstanding achievements, MGM took a chance and launched a sequel to the 2018 film. Roar Uthaug's picture did not win favor with either film fans or critics: the former brought only $ 275 million to her piggy bank, and Lara Croft earned average ratings in the press. Now the major has to solve a difficult task - to draw the attention of viewers to the sequel. And the MGM bosses have already completed part of their homework, inviting the sequel Ben Wheatley to the director's chair.Until now, the Briton could not be called the primary candidate for the helmsman position of the new Lara Croft. For the 2018 reboot, the MGM management called the Norwegian Uthaug, unknown to the general public, but the Norwegian Uthaug who got his hands on the action, and the studio's hopes were hardly met. Wheatley's films are completely different - the director often works in the genre of thriller or horror, mixing elements of satire or black comedy with them. It is noteworthy that Amy Jump, a longtime collaborator and wife of Ben Wheatley, was involved in the script for the second "Lara Croft". Together they worked on Death Row, Field in England, High-Rise and Shootout, so the sequel could be an explosive movie cocktail.
