According to The Hollywood Reporter , another game franchise will soon be released. The adaptation rights to the popular Thief game series were acquired by Straight Up Films , which has already included Adam Mason and Simon Boyes' films ("Not Safe for Work") to work on the script.

The first part Thief was released in 1998 and quickly gained popularity among gamers. By now, the franchise has grown to four games. They take place in a dark fantasy steampunk world that resembles both the late Middle Ages and the Victorian era. Reportedly, the filmmakers plan to preserve the spirit of the original and make the main antagonist of the film an insidious tyrant with a deep knowledge of magic.
