The king of football will be the hero of the series
Rohan Media and Primary Wave have decided to join forces on a TV show about the rise and fall of the New York Cosmos football club, Deadline.The multi-part drama will unfold in the 70s of the last century, when New York was on the verge of bankruptcy. In 1971, the president of Warner Communications corporation Steve Ross and the owners of the record company Atlantic Records Ahmet and Nesuhi Erteguny decided to found a football team in the city. European football was not popular in the United States, as a result of which only a few hundred fans attended New York Cosmos matches at first. Everything changed in 1975, when the owners of the club managed to sign a contract with Pele . Under the terms of the deal, the King of Football received an incredible $ 1.4 million at that time, and was also practically exempted from paying taxes through a number of ingenious schemes.  The very first official match of Pele wearing the new team's jersey caused an unprecedented stir in the USA. More than 300 journalists from all over the world received accreditation for it, and the TV channel CBS acquired the rights to broadcast the game. The stadium workers had to paint the field green so that no bald spots could be seen during the broadcast. Since then, European football has grown rapidly in the United States, which has had a positive impact on the attendance and infrastructure of many American teams. Following Pele , Franz Beckenbauer, Carlos Alberto, Giorgio Chinaglia and many other stars moved to New York, which helped New York Cosmos become a kind of "dream team". In 1977, the team won the North American Football League championship, after which Pele announced the end of his sports career.  Without the King of Football , the team not only began to rapidly lose fans, but also lost a solid television contract. The club was disbanded in 1985, after which the North American Football League ceased to exist. It was only possible to bring the New York Cosmos back to life in 2010 with the help of the same Pele , who became the honorary president of the team. Currently, the New York club plays in America's second largest football league.  According to insiders, Rohan Media and Primary Wave are already looking for writers to bring this story to the small screens. The series will be produced by Roy Howlett, Ben Press and Mark Ross.
