Get Shorty on TV
The success of such TV shows as "Fargo" ( Fargo ), "Librarians" ( The Librarians ) and "From Dusk Till Dawn" ), proved that with a competent approach, television projects based on famous films can be in no way inferior to the original. It is quite natural that many air and cable channels of America rushed to adapt the famous hits of the big screen. The television network Epix was no exception, the leadership of which launched a series based on the comedy by Barry Sonnenfeld " Get the Shorty ", which, in turn, was based on the novel of the same name by Elmore Leonard ...The 1996 crime comedy was critically acclaimed and grossed more than $ 115 million on a budget of $ 30 million . Gene Hackman, Rene Russo, Danny DeVito and John Travolta starred in the film. The latter's work on the image of the racketeer Chile Palmer was awarded the " Golden Globe " award. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter , Get Shorty will be co-opted by MGM as distributor of the original tape. Davy Holmes ("Awakening" / Awake ) was entrusted with the post of producer and writer of the series.  The central character of the story will be Miles Daily , who works for the Nevada mafia bosses. Fearing for the future of his family, he decides to change his profession and become a Hollywood producer. A set of criminal talents helps him to declare himself among the sharks of show business, but soon the main character begins to understand that he not only could not leave the underworld behind, but also led him straight to the Dream Factory .. . Epix bosses are hoping to start filming this fall to air the comedy next summer. Insiders have not yet announced whether the channel is going to involve in any way the actors from the movie Sonnenfeld in its project.  Considering the fact that Danny DeVito has been delighting viewers for many years with his unparalleled performance in the sitcom It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia , and John Travolta recently dabbled in acting in the first season of the American Crime Story television anthology, organizing their cameos doesn't seem like an impossible task.
