Disney Reveals The Secrets Of The Star Wars Spin-Off
Disney continues to share information with Star Wars fans about the franchise's upcoming films at Star Wars Celebration . Producer Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilm VP Kiri Hart and director Gareth Edwards unveiled the first spin-off of the space saga, Star Wars: Rogue .By now it was known that the female lead was given to Felicity Jones, and the film's score would be written by Oscar winner Alexander Deplat. There are rumors about Ben Mendelssohn's participation in the project, but representatives of the studio are in no hurry to confirm this information. The idea of creating spin-offs belongs to George Lucas himself, who wanted to use them to tell stories that took place outside the main storylines of the old and new trilogies. According to Kennedy , such pictures will henceforth be called the "Anthology" of Star Wars ".  The first spin-off will take place between the third and fourth episodes of the saga. In the same time period, the events of the animated hit "Star Wars Rebels" ( Star Wars Rebels ) take place, and the studio Disney does not exclude the possibility of transferring the characters of the cartoon to the big screens in their future projects. The creators of " Outcast " noted that the Jedi will play a minimal role in the plot of the picture, and the heroes who cannot wield the Force will have to save the galaxy from danger. "A group of resistance fighters are joining forces on a daring mission to steal the plans of the Death Star ," reads the spin-off's official synopsis. The Outcast team also presented the first concept art and a teaser for the film. “For thousands of generations, the Jedi have been the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic . It was so until the dark times. Until Empire , ”the narrator said while the camera pushed through the forest to show the Death Star looming over the horizon.  The plot of the film was invented by renowned visual effects master of the studio ILM John Knoll. According to Kennedy , the script entry " Outcast " was one of the first texts she met shortly after joining Lucasfilm . Hart noted that it was important for the studio to select directors in advance so that they could participate in the creation of spin-offs from the very first stages of work. Edwards added that " Outcast " could be called a war movie. The film will be directed by Greig Fraser (Target One), and the visual effects will be overseen by Neil Corbould, who has a track record of Black Hawk Down and Saving Private Ryan.  At the moment, Disney is building sets at London studio Pinewood , and filming is due to start in late summer. The director of the second spin-off, Joshua Trunk, was unable to attend the festival due to illness, so the details of his project remained secret.
