Fuller: ”Gaiman is ready to start casting for American Gods”
In an interview with Den of Geek , writer Brian Fuller spoke about the progress of work on the television adaptation of Neil Gaiman's novel American Gods , which is currently under development Michael Green ("Heroes" / Heroes ) for Starz .The plot of the show revolves around a former Shadow prisoner hired by the enigmatic Mr. Wednesday to accompany him on his journey across America. After a while, the main character realizes that his new acquaintance is the incarnation of the god Odin , and the strange people he meets on the way are the embodiment of other old gods, who must rally their forces to give battle to new ones. According to Fuller , viewers shouldn't wait until 2016 for the show. Currently, the creators of the show have scripts for the first two episodes and several"cool"concept art depicting iconic locations such as the Crocodile bar, the Garden of Bones and the roof Dawn . Brian also announced a few surprises for those familiar with the original, and specifically noted the importance of casting for the project. The producers plan to invite a wide variety of actors to audition so that the series"matches the ethnic diversity of the novel".“We have not made any official proposals to anyone yet, - specified Fuller , -but we have already looked after someone. Now everything depends on Starz ".  According to the source, Neil himself, well aware of the wishes of fans of his novel, is already close to starting casting for the roles of Shadow, Wednesday, Laura, Crazy Sweeney and Bilkisa . Moreover, Bilquis will become one of the main characters of the upcoming series. Fuller said he plans to announce the names of the actors for all of these roles at Comic-Con , just as the already signed characters take the stage.  As for ethnic diversity, Fuller clarified:“This is one of the things that attracts me to our project. Neil and Michael and I are currently considering including only two white actors in the main cast. The creators of The Walking Dead did a similar thing. ( The Walking Dead ) ...
