Paramount will fight for Alcatraz
Paramount Studios competed with other Hollywood film companies to acquire the rights to Matt Charman's (Spy Bridge) screenplay, " Battle for Alcatraz ," according to The Hollywood Reporter .Along with Zach Whedon and Brian Cavanagh-Jones, Charman will take over the production functions, with Neil Widener and Gavin James working on the script. The plot of the film will be based on real events that took place in May 1946 in the Alcatraz prison. Then the attempt of six prisoners to get out turned the penitentiary into a real battlefield. When the criminals killed two guards, the Marines were forced to come to the aid of the prison staff.  The failed escape attempt, which went down in history as " The Battle of Alcatraz ", has already become a source of inspiration for the creators of such films as "Brute Force", "Bird Lover of Alcatraz", "Alcatraz: A Stunning Story." and "Six against the cliff". This is not the first time Paramount has taken an interest in the history of the famous prison. In 1979, the studio filmed Escape from Alcatraz, which featured another attempt to escape from the island.
