The US Box Office has moved to Zootopia
The first spring weekend ( March 4-6 ) in the North American box office was marked by an indisputable victory for one of the newcomers of the rental - the animation film " Zootopia ", which was created by the studio Disney .For viewing the new creation of House of Mouse , viewers gave $ 73.7 million , and this is the best result of the studio's cartoons in the first rental week. The previous record was held by Frozen ( $ 67.4 million ). Outside the United States, Zootopia performed even better - the tape already has $ 232.5 million at the worldwide box office (including home fees). Both critics and viewers of Zootopia were delighted. The film team, led by directors Jared Bush , Rich Moore and Byron Howard , did a great job and created a unique world in which predators and herbivores live peacefully with each other.  In "Zootopia" the fauna behave like ordinary people, and the main ideas of the picture reflect the problems of modern society. In the new brainchild of Disney , there is a place for the funny adventures of the main characters, which will surely appeal to children, but at the same time, the colorful characters will not let adults get bored. Second place this week belongs to the action movie "The Fall of London ". The sequel to The Fall of Olympus has earned $ 21.7 million on thrill seekers, less than the original's first week ( $ 30.4 million ).  Reviewers are usually skeptical about such tapes. This fate did not escape the "Fall of London" : most critics considered that the picture of Babak Najafi is one of the projects that do not have any semantic meaning, but in visually, it is inferior to the same "Outcast Tribe". Viewers, on the other hand, were more loyal to the sequel, and on the site CinemaScore it received an A- rating, which few films can boast.  The third position went to the permanent leader of recent weeks - the blockbuster " Deadpool ". Another $ 16.4 million went to the profanity lover's piggy bank, and now his result at home rental is estimated at $ 311.2 million . The fact that a movie with an R rating was able to perform well in the box office made Hollywood bosses wonder if it was time to start filming comics in an adult way. True, the leadership of Marvel said that it would still continue to adhere to the original concept of developing its own MCU, that is, it would remain with the rating PG-13 .  The fourth place in the top 5 was taken by the war comedy Glenn Ficarra and John Recua " The Reporter ". Viewers gave $ 7.6 million for the story of how a New York journalist left her cloudless life and went to cover events in war-torn Afghanistan. The main role in the tape was played by Tina Fey, and critics called her performance phenomenal. However, the studio Paramount pinned great hopes on the picture. If in "The Fall of Olympus" the script, according to the reviewers, is completely absent, then "Reporter" pleases with meaningful dialogues and appropriate sarcasm. Making a comedy about war, and even in an ironic vein, is not an easy task, but Ficarra and Recua coped with it masterfully.  The epic fantasy " Gods of Egypt " rounded out the five highest-grossing films of the weekend. Perhaps, so far, the film by Alex Proyas is the main disappointment of the year for viewers and critics. The film was able to collect only $ 5 million , and in total in home theaters "Gods of Egypt" earned $ 22.8 million - a rather weak result for a blockbuster shot for $ 140 million .
