Netflix hosts ”Cowboy Bebop”

Image Streaming service Netflix has ordered ten episodes of the live-action version of the cult anime Cowboy Bebop. The space western will be produced by Marty Adelstein's Tomorrow studio, as well as the creators of the original animated series from the Sunrise studio. This is reported by the publication Deadline. The script for the show will be written by Christopher Yost, whose track record includes both Star Wars Rebels and Thor: Ragnarok.

Jazz-inspired multi-genre storytelling centers on former criminal Spike Spiegel, tough mechanic Jet Black, cunning gambler Faye Valentine and hacker girl Edward, traveling in the spaceship Bebop. In pursuit of the most dangerous criminals in the solar system, each of the bounty hunter team tries to escape from their past. They are even willing to save the world ... for a good price.

Cowboy Bebop is considered to be one of the best anime of all time. The first and only season of the show aired in Japan in 1998-1999, and in 2001, Adult Swim found recognition in America, then around the world. The animated series received several awards and helped introduce Western audiences to the world of Japanese animation.

Scott Rosenberg ("The Fall of the Order"), Andre Nemec ("Spy"), Jeff Pinkner ("Lost"), and Josh Applebaum ("Mission Impossible: Phantom Protocol") have been appointed as showrunners. Sunrise will serve as executive producers, and original anime creator Shinichiro Watanabe has been appointed consultant.

In addition, at its first launch in Asia, the streaming giant announced that it is expanding the number of anime on the service. The new lineup includes animated versions of Altered Carbon and Pacific Rim, as well as the original shows Trese (Thirteen *), Yasuke (Yasuke *) and Cagaster of an Insect Cage *. New titles are currently in development and will join Netflix's already-released anime Devil Man: Crybaby and B: The Beginning.

The company also delighted fans of classic Japanese animation by adding well-known and beloved TV series such as Evangelion, Knights of the Zodiac and Ultraman. Thus, with the help of projects from Japan, Taiwan, Thailand and South Korea, the online service seeks to expand its audience.
