Commissioner Gordon may be dismissed
In recent years, viewers have become accustomed to the fact that behind the scenes of the DCU is a real mess. It looks like the creators of the superhero franchise are ready to waste the potential of another popular comic book character. In a recent interview with Collider, actor J.K. Simmons admitted that he does not know if he will ever be able to return to the image of the Gotham police officer James Gordon.Currently, Warner Bros. is on the verge of losing a number of key actors in the film series. This fall, rumors circulated on the Web that the Hollywood company had failed to renew its contract with Henry Cavill. This information has not yet been officially confirmed, but quite recently the German office of the famous men's magazine GQ publicly announced the Briton as a former performer of the role of Superman. Ben Affleck may also be left behind the franchise, who, according to some sources, has finally lost interest in the image of Batman. Now the authors of the cinematic universe do not know what to do with Jim Gordon. Let us remind you that it all started very well for the WB. In the spring of 2016, the studio invited Oscar-winning J.K. Simmons. This news has delighted moviegoers. Firstly, a truly talented and multifaceted actor became the replacement of the magnificent Gary Oldman in the image of an honest and incorruptible guard of the law. Secondly, Simmons enjoyed special respect among comic book fans for his role as Jay Jonah Jameson in the original trilogy of the adventures of Spider-Man. After some time, the actor posted pictures from the gym, which made it clear that he was perfectly prepared for the new role. It is all the more surprising that in the end the Oscar-winner appeared in the Justice League blockbuster for just a couple of minutes. DC fans thought  “There is some negotiation going on between me and the studio, but I don’t want to reveal details, Simmons admitted. -As far as I understand, I won't be able to play Gordon again anytime soon. I try to remain optimistic and believe that one day I will still return to this image”. The ideal film for the actor's triumphant return to the DC universe could be a Batman solo, but the WB bosses themselves do not seem to understand in which direction they should develop this long-suffering project. It was originally planned that the tape will tell about the confrontation between the hero Ben Affleck and the insane patients of the Arkham Asylum. Then it was reported that WB reconsidered plans and was going to shoot a film about the adventures of the Dark Knight at the dawn of his superhero career. Since it was about the fact that the tape would be a stand-alone project in the spirit of the upcoming "Joker", insiders suggested that Affleck and Simmons would be replaced by other actors.  Finally, there was a recent rumor that the WB is preparing a massive reboot of the franchise, and "Batman" will still enter the updated cinematic universe. In this case, the only chance to return to the image of Gordon for J.K. Simmon will take part in Ben Affleck's project: if the creators of the franchise present a new Dark Knight to the public, it would not be too logical for them to leave the former performer of the role of Gordon.
