The creators of The Witcher found their Ciri and Yennefer

In addition, the creators of The Witcher have selected actors for secondary roles: Jodie May (Game of Thrones, Silent Passion) will play Queen Calanthe, Ciri's grandmother, Bjorn Hlinur Haraldsson (Borgia) - her husband, knight Eist Turseach, Adam Levi ("Big Score") - Druid Myshovur, adviser to King Skellige Bran, Mayanna Bering ("Sign of Darkness") - the sorceress Tissay de Vrieux, head of the Aretusa school of magic, and Millie Brady ("The Last Kingdom") - Princess Renfrey.  Showrunner Lauren Schmidt, familiar with her work on Marvel's Daredevil and Defenders, commented on the difficult casting process: “We started casting in June. At the moment we already have about 50 people. They are all very different. There were also such characters, for whom I selected actors right away in the process of writing the script, but there were also absolute opposites, for example, Ciri. We really had to look for her. We met with over two hundred girls from all over Europe and chose a few that fit, but then I saw Freya casting for another role. I went to London to meet her in person, and we knew right away that she was what we needed. ”  When asked if the producers had picked lesser-known actors on purpose so as not to outshine Cavill, Schmidt replied, “No, and we weren't looking for a superstar to play Geralt. We just wanted to find the perfect actors for the characters, end of the story. Henry is a big fan of the franchise, of course. We met with him in April, then we looked at hundreds more candidates for the title role, but Henry never got out of my head.
