Kantemir Balagov became the best director of the Cannes Unofficial View

Image There are some hours left before the announcement of the awards of the Main Competition of the Cannes Film Festival, but the jury of the second most important section "Unusual Regard" headed by Lebanese director Nadine Labaki ("Capernaum") has already chosen the favorites. One of them was our Kantemir Balagov - he won the prize for the best director in the drama Dylda. Kantemir himself could not accept the honorary award, since immediately after the screening of the film in Cannes he flew to Moscow to shoot a new project. For him, the producer of "Dyldy" Alexander Rodnyansky did it, saying many warm words to the 27-year-old director.

It is impossible not to admire Balagov's skill, whose second full-length film won the jury at the largest show in the world. Prior to that, Cantermere won the FIPRESCI prize in the same Special Regard with his debut drama "Tightness". Rodnyansky called the prize to Balagov an outstanding achievement, the result of a calm, even steely faith in the plan, the ability to achieve understanding of the film crew, work honestly and bring everything to the end.

Recall, "Dylda" tells the story of two girlfriends-front-line soldiers, Iya and Masha, in Leningrad in its first post-war autumn. Having returned from the war, the girls are looking for their way in a peaceful life in different ways. Shell-shocked and constantly falling into a stupor, Iya nicknamed Dylda (Victoria Miroshnichenko) wants only peace for herself and her friend. And the furious Masha (Vasilisa Perelygina) cannot leave the war behind. The film is distinguished by the heartfelt direction, bright, metaphorical images, work with textures and colors and inquisitive shooting by cameraman Ksenia Sereda. "Dylda" will be released in USA on June 20. Also, Alexander Rodnyansky said that at the film market, which was held in parallel with the Cannes Film Festival, the drama was bought in many countries of the world, and the award of the show will become a sign of quality for cinephiles.
