Image USA director Andrei Zvyagintsev joined the jury of the upcoming 71st Cannes Film Festival. This was announced by the director general of the festival, Thierry Fremaud, during an interview at the Europe 1 radio station. The film screening on the Cote d'Azur will take place from 8 to 19 May.
Previously, Zvyagintsev visited Cannes only as a participant. He was nominated three times for the main award of the competition, Palme d'Or, with the films Exile (2007), Leviathan (2014) and Dislike (2017), but, unfortunately, did not win. However, the first film won the award for Best Actor in the performance of Konstantin Lavronenko, the second - for the best screenplay, and "Dislike" won the Jury Prize. In addition, in 2011 Zvyagintsev's film "Elena" received an award in the second most important film screening program - "Special Look".

Traditionally, the panel of judges consists of eight people - four men and four women, as well as the chairman, who this time is actress Cate Blanchett. In addition to Zvyagintsev, the films will be judged by director Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2049), actress Kristen Stewart (High Life), director of Thirteenth Ava Du Vernay, Chinese actor Chang Chen, French director Robert Gedigian and actress Lea Seydoux, as well as African singer Haja Nin.
